The CBC House System
A tradition that inspires, unites, and shapes the world
At Colegio Británico de Cartagena, there is something that goes beyond classrooms and lecture halls: a tradition that accompanies every student from day one and leaves a lasting impression for life. This is the Houses system, a way of experiencing school that connects us, inspires us, and prepares us to face the world with solid values.

Inspired by traditional UK schools, the system groups students, teachers, and staff into three large teams: Lions, Dragons, and Unicorns. Each has its own emblem and distinctive values, but they all share the same purpose: to strengthen our identity, our unity, and our CBC spirit. See more
🦁 Lions (Yellow House)
The Lion of England, symbol of strength and leadership, represents this House. Lions are distinguished by their wisdom, courage, and balance, and are recognized for leading with integrity and serving as examples to others. Their firm but always empathetic voice makes them natural guides who inspire and build community.
🐲 Dragons (Red House)
The Welsh Dragon brings life to a House full of energy and passion. Dragons are bold, persistent, and fearless; students who dare to inquire, reflect, and act courageously. Their inner fire drives them to push boundaries and turn every challenge into a learning opportunity.
🦄 Unicorns (Blue House)
The mythical Scottish Unicorn inspires this House, which is characterized by nobility, creativity, and solidarity. Unicorns are strategists and dreamers who build bridges between cultures and ideas. With their open-mindedness and spirit of solidarity, they always seek to leave a positive mark on the world.
Much more than colors
Although each House has its own identity, they all share the same goal: to educate students who are principled, caring, and globally minded. On a daily basis, every activity—whether it’s a game, an assembly, a project, or a competition—becomes an opportunity to live out the values that define us and the IB attributes that prepare us for the future. At CBC, belonging to a House is not simply about wearing a color: it is about feeling part of a large family, learning to collaborate across generations, and discovering that to lead is to serve, to compete is to grow, and to belong is to transform.
Ultimately, at the British School of Cartagena, colors distinguish us, but values unite us.
