The RULER curriculum is an approach based on emotional intelligence, developed by Yale University, which seeks to teach students to recognise, understand, label, express and regulate their emotions.
At the British School of Cartagena, we implement this curriculum to foster a school environment where students develop emotional skills that allow them to manage their feelings effectively, improve their interpersonal relationships and reach their full academic and personal potential. At CBC we implement the innovative RULER method in pre-school for the management of emotions, through playful and dynamic activities our teachers guide the children in the exploration and expression of emotions.
By providing them with a safe space to share their feelings, we help them develop valuable emotional skills that will stay with them throughout their lives. We teach them to regulate their emotions in a positive way, through strategies such as mindful breathing and constructive conflict resolution.
