Methodology

Active learning

At CBC we train our students with a multilingual pedagogical model based on the active learning model, which responds to the context of the school in the midst of a rich cultural tradition of the city, the region and the demand for higher levels of proficiency in the individual.

The teaching based on the active methodology is centered on the student, his development and strengthening of the own knowledge competences. These strategies conceive learning as a constructive process, rather than just receptive. One of the main reasons for the British School of Cartagena to adopt this innovative methodology is for the genuine desire to provide students with a deeper and more transcendent understanding of academic knowledge that prepares them to face the challenges of a changing world.

Why implement PBL?

  • Strengthens 21st century skills: Students become agile and creative thinkers, able to work in teams, generate original ideas, communicate effectively, and understand complex situations to solve real problems.
  • Focuses on bilingual learning: this methodology facilitates the teaching of a second language. Much of the classes are in English and involve native teachers.
  • Involves play and exploration in educational activities: learning from experience motivates students to think and go beyond what they find in books.
  • Fosters critical and investigative thinking: they will be able to solve real problems, express their point of view and thoroughly analyze different positions.
  • It promotes the learning of artistic expressions: it motivates students to learn arts, music and culture, enhancing their creative and reflective thinking, as well as the skills to function socially.
