Our secondary grades range from 7th to 12th and we have Colombian teachers from many regions of the country and foreigners who come from different English-speaking countries and who contribute their experiences and cultures to create a multicultural environment where citizens of the world are prepared.
Our educational proposal allows students to master English in written and oral communication skills that allow them to perform in any academic or non-academic environment where they require it. In 7th and 8th they learn English, Social Studies (7th), Science, History and Computer Science in that language; in 9th Science it changes to Biology and English Literature is added as an optional subject for the 7 IGCSE exams which, if passed in its entirety, gives the student the CIE Diploma of world recognition. In 11th and 12th they continue working in English and History in that language; the areas of History and Geography of Colombia, Spanish, Chemistry and Physics, Literature in Spanish in grades 9 and 10, Politics, Global, Philosophy and Theory of Knowledge in the last two years are in Spanish.
The academic work done by teachers enables students to perform well on both the national Saber tests, the Cambridge IGCSE 10th grade and the International Baccalaureate Diploma 12th grade.
The academic structure of the school is complemented by Accomplishment Based Projects that create spaces for young people to meet their tastes, abilities and talents, while developing healthy habits and discipline helped by the school's sports offer, while working for their community and creating new ties of friendship with students from other courses and degrees or colleges both local and national.
In middle school, which begins in seventh grade, students continue the Cambridge University studies with a combination of classes in English and Spanish, in addition to French; This program culminates in 10th with the presentation of the 7 IGCSE exams required to access the CIE diploma. The number of hours in
Spanish language increases in the upper grades as students become more they prepare for the Saber Tests exam and the hours in English become denser and less in quantity but focus on developing written and oral skills to finish training students with the necessary skills to face challenges university students in Colombia or abroad.
High school at CBC teaches young people to be aware of the decisions they make for their life, to self-regulate and to always give their best at every moment of their life. The teachers at the school plan and carry out active learning activities in English and Spanish where the high school student is educated with the attributes of an IB student and therefore they are inquiring, open-minded, informed and educated, caring, thoughtful , bold, balanced and good communicators.
