Our elementary school is divided into low primary and high primary. Lower primary comprises courses from 1 to 3 and upper primary from 4 to 6. Ages in this section range from 6 to 11 years. They are characterized by being active, creative, bold and happy children with a high academic level who learn to be self-confident, responsible, thoughtful, innovative and committed to all the activities they initiate; willing to continue their academic, formative, sports path in the permanent search for their talents and development of their skills in Spanish, English and French in a multicultural environment due to the large number of nationalities existing in the section.
This section establishes the international curriculum of Cambridge University flexible and adaptable to the national context. Students develop competencies in the subjects of "maths, science, English, social studies and global perspectives". As a follow-up to this curriculum, students present the “progression” exams and the “grade 5 checkpoint”. To develop this curriculum, in the lower primary we have self-contained teachers and in the upper primary teachers specialized by areas. Among the “staff” are highly qualified Colombian teachers and native speakers of various nationalities who contribute significantly to the multicultural environment.
Active learning where both individual and collaborative work take on meaning. Exploration, risk taking, problem solving, creativity, research are part of the approaches to the learning area.
The students continue with the work started in preschool where they explore through their senses and seek to find and develop the special talents that each one of them has to imagine, create, innovate, dream among many others. Every day, for 90 minutes, children have the possibility to explore their interests and can choose between multiple sports, artistic, technological and social activities in such a way that they discover and develop their talents naturally. Comprehensive training that allows them to positively build their immediate environment, transform their contexts and solve daily challenges.
