What is HighScope?

HighScope is an educational approach focused on active learning, where students are the protagonists of their own learning process. It is based on the idea that children learn best when they explore, experiment and make decisions about their environment.

At HighScope, the planning, execution and evaluation of activities are encouraged, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This model is designed to support children’s holistic development, both cognitively and socially.

Plan - Do - Review

Plan-Do-Review is a central methodology in the HighScope approach, which encourages active and autonomous learning. It consists of three key steps:

Biblioteca Preschool CBC

Plan (Planificar)

Students decide what they are going to do and set goals for their activities.

Preescolar Castillogrande

Do (Hacer)

The children carry out the planned activities, experimenting and exploring.

Preescolar Britanico (1)

Review (Revisar)

At the end, they reflect on what they did, evaluating the process and the results.

How do we implement HighScope at CBC?

At Colegio Británico de Cartagena, we implement HighScope at the preschool level, an approach that puts the child at the center of learning, respecting his or her interests, rhythms and abilities. This method fosters their integral development, allowing them to explore, plan, act and reflect in a structured but flexible environment.

Our classrooms are designed to encourage exploration, play and creativity.
